Managing partner

Ron is the Managing Partner for RHR Smith & Company and holds licenses to practice in the states of Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Massachusetts. He has over 35 years of public accounting experience with specific expertise in the auditing of governments and non-profits, as well as internal control testing and forensic accounting for governmental and non-profit clients. During his career, Ron has served on numerous Federal and State advisory boards. 

Danielle O’Neill

Firm Director, Tax & financial services Director

Danielle earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Franklin Pierce University. Prior to joining the RHR team in 2018, Danielle worked in Office Management and Human Resources and earned her certification as a Human Resource Generalist. 

Heather Hunter

Audit Director

Heather graduated from University of Southern Maine with a B.S. in accounting and a minor in finance and holds a master’s degree in business administration from Southern New Hampshire University. After a short two-year stint in public accounting, she pursued a 34+ year career track with the City of Lewiston holding various positions including city auditor, finance director, human resource director and city administrator. Heather has also taught various business courses at Central Maine Community College for over 29 years and governmental accounting classes through the Maine Treasurers & Tax Collectors Association.

AMADEE DENTON

Operations director

Amadee has 32 years of experience as a Vermont School Business Manager. She earned her Associate’s Degree in Accounting from Champlain College. Her areas of expertise include general ledger management and payroll as they relate to school finance.

Karen Olivieri

Karen joined the RHR team in 2013. As a former Town Manager and Finance Director, Karen’s experience in municipal government extends far beyond her tenure with our Firm. She has become one of our senior level auditors while conducting audits for our Vermont school districts, along with many Maine municipalities and school departments. Karen’s specialties also include accounting services, training, policies, and procedures. 

Julia Dahlgren

Operations Coordinator

Julia holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and Criminology from the University of Southern Maine. She has a background in client service and client relations and applies those skills to her work at RHR Smith & Company. She continues to expand her knowledge and develop her career in governmental auditing.

Pam edson

Finance Manager

Pam has more than 16 years of municipal experience. She provides support and technical assistance for company projects and initiatives, drawing on her extensive background and unique skill set.

Whitney NELLÉ

Operations assistant

Whitney earned her BFA in Creative Writing from Johnson State College in 2012. She has dabbled in managing a boarding kennel, generating web content for a high-end gift shop, and directing the wholesale department at a chocolate store. She joined RHR Smith & Company in 2023 as an Administrative Assistant.

Ashley is an Information and Communication Specialist at RHR Smith & Company. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Entrepreneurship from Suffolk University and a Master’s Degree in International Marketing and Project Management from Hult International Business School. Her professional background includes corporate event planning, project management, staff auditing, and client relations, bringing a well-rounded perspective to the firm's communications and client support initiatives.

Jake Sullivan

Information & Communication Specialist

Jake is an Information and Communication Specialist at RHR Smith & Company, where he supports the firm's internal and external communication efforts. He develops the firm's newsletters, creates communication materials, maintains website content, and helps ensure employees and clients receive clear, consistent, and timely information. He also works with leadership and staff to coordinate communications that support the firm's goals and culture. Jake's background includes experience in communications, client support, administration, and marketing. Outside of work, he enjoys golfing and spending time with friends.

Jason Wilborn earned his Bachelor’s in Information Management & Technology from Syracuse University in 2022. He has a background in IT support, web development, and information security. Jason believes in the importance of getting people the access and understanding they need to empower themselves and improve their work using technology. He is passionate about making IT systems function more effectively, easily, and reliably.

Kelsea Moyse

Human Resources Coordinator

Kelsea is a Human Resources Coordinator at RHR Smith & Company with nearly 10 years of human resources experience and a SHRM-CP certification. Her expertise includes benefits administration, employee relations, payroll processing, labor law compliance, recruitment, and talent acquisition. She also supports hiring strategies, strengthens internal communication, and fosters collaboration across teams, helping to build and maintain employee-focused HR practices throughout the organization.

Kirstie Krukowski

Professional Development Manager

Kirstie has a strong foundation in public service and education. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Husson University and a Master of Education in Administrative Leadership from Endicott College, equipping her with both analytical and leadership skills. Her professional experience includes serving as a town manager in the municipal sector, as well as working in education as a teacher and business manager. This diverse background allows her to bring a unique perspective to her work, combining organization, financial insight, and community engagement.

Outside of work, Kirstie enjoys life in a century-old farmhouse in rural Maine, where she lives with her two children.

Sara earned her Associate’s Degree in Liberal Studies from the Community College of Vermont. Sara joined RHR Smith & Company in 2022 as a newcomer to the accounting profession. Sara handles payroll and internal control processes as a Staff Auditor, and has joined the Federal Compliance Team helping with single audits.

Abbie earned her Bachelor’s in Business Management with a concentration in International Business from the University of Maine at Orono in 2019. Before joining RHR Smith & Company in 2023, Abbie worked at a large local bank in Maine for 6 years as a Consumer Banking Relationship Manager. As a newcomer to auditing, Abbie hopes to work towards earning her CPA certificate in the next few years. 

Alyssa Kenney

Alyssa has a background in office and property management, with extensive experience in school finance and compliance. Prior to joining RHR Smith & Company, she served as the School Finance & Compliance Coordinator for the Maine Department of Education, where she developed expertise in financial oversight, compliance, and supporting educational organizations.

Amy earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Lyndon State College. Her professional background includes experience as a Personal Banker and an Administrative Assistant in the construction industry. Since joining RHR Smith & Company in 2018, Amy has developed extensive expertise in fixed asset management and provides valuable support to the firm's clients and audit teams.

Annie has a background in bookkeeping, finance support, and administrative operations. A QuickBooks Certified professional, she brings experience in accounts payable and receivable, payroll processing, financial reporting, vendor relations, and data management. Her work has included supporting purchasing, reconciliations, audit preparation, and compliance across education, healthcare, and private-sector organizations. Known for being dependable, detail-oriented, and adaptable, Annie enjoys improving processes, solving problems, and helping teams stay organized and informed.

Barbara Martin

Barb has more than 30 years’ experience in non-profit organizations and has worked in many facets of finance. She’s been a Finance Manager, Director of Finance, as well as most recently a CFO for a local Tribal Government.

Brittany Currie

Accounting Specialist

Brittany earned her Associate's Degree in Accounting and Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration at Southern New Hampshire University. She spent 11 years in municipal government as a Business Manager and Finance and Operations Director, then worked as a Director of Finance and Controller at a non-profit. Brittany has also served as the Treasurer for the local women's USBC bowling league and the local LYBS baseball softball league. She is excited to learn the auditing side of accounting, and her next aspiration is to earn her CPA license!

Cathy joined the RHR team in 2017. She brings with her 23 years of accounting experience as the former Finance Director for a Maine municipality, along with an appreciation and understanding of local government processes.

She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Bentley College and has worked in a variety of accounting roles in both the private and public sectors, including positions with auditing responsibilities. Her extensive experience and strong accounting background enable her to provide valuable support to both the firm's clients and audit teams throughout the audit process.

Debbie McPherson

Ian brings a strong background in military leadership and operations, having served as a Standardization Official, Mission Commander, and Drone Pilot. He applies the discipline, analytical thinking, and attention to detail developed through his military experience to his work at RHR Smith & Company, while continuing to expand his knowledge and grow his career in governmental auditing.

Jack Harvey

Jack earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Financial Analysis from the Thomas College Harold Alfond School of Business in 2024. His professional experience includes serving as a tax and audit intern with Wipfli, a nationally recognized top-25 accounting firm, as well as working as a Staff Accountant at a local firm in Portland, where he provided tax preparation and financial statement review services. Jack enjoys working directly with clients and is committed to delivering exceptional service while continuing to grow his career at RHR Smith & Company.

Janice Burrows

Janice holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing from Post University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Johnson State College. She is a licensed teacher in Vermont and brings a diverse professional background spanning marketing, accounting, education, and nonprofit organizations. Her experience includes working in corporate settings, public schools, school districts, and serving as an Afterschool Program Director, where she developed and secured grant funding for various programs. Janice brings a unique perspective to her work and continues to expand her knowledge in the areas of audit and grant compliance.

Jean-David Hurd

Jean-David earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from the University of Maine at Augusta. Before joining RHR Smith & Company, he gained experience working in a variety of industries, including education, construction, manufacturing, and food service, while completing his degree. He also completed a tax and audit internship, building a strong foundation in public accounting. Jean-David continues to develop his auditing skills and is working toward earning his CPA designation as he advances his career.

Jen joined RHR Smith & Company in 2022 as a Staff Auditor and quickly moved into an Audit Manager position. She earned her Bachelor’s in Accounting from Champlain College in Burlington, Vermont. Jen has held positions in both the private and public sector with increasing responsibilities in financial administration and leadership. Jen enjoys assisting municipalities and school districts with their accounting practices and supporting them through the audit process.

Prior to joining RHR Smith & Company, she worked at North Country Federal Credit Union, where she progressed from a teller role to serving as a Member Service Representative and Loan Officer. Jessica brings valuable experience in financial services and customer relations and continues to expand her knowledge while applying her background to her work at the firm.

Joanne has a degree in Psychology and Sociology from Bowdoin. She has a diverse background of work experiences with the most recent on being 18 years as the Business Manager of the Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland. She is experienced in nonprofit accounting and management. Joanne is an early morning gym rat whose passions include music, pets and people.

Justin Coppeta was born and raised in Westbrook, Maine where he currently resides. He attended Assumption University where he played baseball while earning his Bachelors and MBA in accounting. Prior to joining the RHR family, he worked for a public CPA Firm in Portland, Maine, gaining experience in both tax and audit engagements. Outside of work he enjoys spending time with family and friends, catching a baseball game, and golfing!

Kim earned her associate degree at Champlain College in Accounting and Data Processing and her bachelor's degree at Johnson State College in Business Management with a concentration in accounting. Kim has worked in Higher Education at Vermont State University, formerly known as Johnson State College/Northern Vermont University, for 37 years in the Financial Aid Office.

Kimberly Beam

Kim earned her Associate’s Degree in Computer Science from Southern Maine Technical College. Prior to joining RHR Smith & Company, Kim served as a Town Treasurer and has over a decade of bookkeeping, business ownership, and management experience. Her strong accounting skills and municipal background are a tremendous asset to us and our clients.

Kristen earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from Framingham State University in 2016. Prior to transitioning into accounting, she worked as a Clinical Dietitian, where she developed strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. At RHR Smith & Company, Kristen is a Staff Auditor supporting both the Audit Team and the Federal Compliance Team as she continues to build her expertise in the accounting profession.

Lisa earned an undergrad degree from University of Maine at Machias, and her MBA from Husson. She has 20 years of experience in Human Resources with 15 + years as a recruiter and 4 + years as a HR Generalist with PHR & SHRM Certifications. She also has experience as a volunteer firefighter and emergency preparedness professional.

Mary has 30 years of accounting experience, including 15 years as Finance Director for a non-profit. Her time working on both the audit and financial reporting teams at RHR Smith & Company allows her to provide a well-rounded perspective to our clients as she works as their Audit Manager. Matthew brings a background in retail management, customer service, and financial aid support. His experience includes validating and creating financial aid accounts for college students, along with developing strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Michelle graduated from Bryant University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and a minor in Information Technology.  She brings more than 25 years of experience, including Internal Audit Manager at a financial institution, Finance Controller for a manufacturing company, and public accounting.  Her previous work has supported a strong internal control environment with a collaborative leadership style.  Outside of work, she loves spending time with family and friends and enjoys making creative projects by hand.

Miranda earned her MBA in Accounting from the University of Texas at Dallas and her BBA in Accounting from Texas Tech University. She is a licensed CPA in both Texas and Vermont, where she currently resides, with over 19 years of accounting experience. Her specialties include governmental accounting, budget and financial management, and internal control processes. Miranda’s background as a School Business Manager has given her first-hand knowledge and experience to assist our clients throughout the audit process. 

Nichol Solomon

Nichol earned a double Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Business Administration from Lyndon State College in Vermont in 2017. Before joining RHR Smith & Company, Nichol worked as an Office Manager at a car dealership and then changed roles to a Case Manager with the State of Vermont working with federally funded programs. She works on the Federal Compliance team at RHR Smith & Company.

Sarah holds a Bachelor of Science degree and brings over 13 years of experience as a U.S. Army Civilian. During her career with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, she held positions including Management Consultant and Chief of Security, where she managed federal funds, ensured compliance with federal regulations, and oversaw critical security programs. Sarah’s background reflects a strong commitment to public service, financial oversight, and program management, which she applies to her work at RHR Smith & Company.

Sarah Quimby

Sarah brings over 15 years of experience in medical coding and billing, along with valuable municipal experience from her time serving as a Town Clerk in a local Maine municipality. During her four years in that role, she worked closely with the finance department and developed a strong interest in finance and auditing. Sarah brings her attention to detail, administrative experience, and knowledge of municipal operations to her work at RHR Smith & Company.

Shannon earned both her Master of Business Administration and Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management from Husson University in 2019. Prior to joining RHR Smith & Company, she spent six years at a leading local bank, where she supported clients through corporate services, account management, fraud prevention, and online banking solutions. Shannon brings valuable experience in client service, financial operations, and problem-solving as she continues to develop her skills and grow her career in auditing.

Tammy brings over 28 years of financial administration experience, including nine years working in municipal government. Her attention to detail, organizational skills, and analytical abilities provide valuable support to clients through her work on the Federal Compliance Team. Drawing on her experience as an audit client, Tammy helps clients navigate compliance requirements and improve their efficiency, documentation practices, and overall processes.

She earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Johnson State College with a concentration in Business Management. Holly earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and her Master's Degree in Business Administration from Thomas College. Holly has been a licensed CPA in the State of Maine since 2000. She comes to RHR Smith & Company with over 5 years of audit experience specializing in the governmental and not-for-profit sector and 18 years of experience serving as a school business manager.

Julie brings nearly 22 years of municipal government experience, having served her hometown in Maine as Town Administrator. During her tenure, she held responsibilities including finance administration, general government operations, and policy review. Julie’s extensive knowledge of municipal operations and public sector management provides valuable insight and support to RHR Smith & Company’s clients.

Andrew earned his Bachelor’s (2021) and Master’s (2023) in Accounting from the University of Maine. Through his coursework, Andrew found a natural interest in auditing and joined the RHR team in 2023. He is a native of Maine.

Before joining the RHR team, Cassie was a Maine School Business Manager/HR Manager. Her prior background includes various accounting roles within venture capital, property management and construction firms.

Dave Delano, CPA

Financial Reporting Specialist

Dave earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration and his Master of Business Administration from the University of Maine. He started his career with the State of Maine, Department of Audit as a municipal auditor. Later he became the Chief Financial Officer of the Maine Municipal Bond Bank, Maine Health and Higher Educational Facilities Authority and Maine Governmental Facilities Authority in from which he retired in 2022. He has been actively involved in the Maine Government Finance Officers Association and the New England States Government Finance Officers Association. He is a past President, Treasurer and Board Member of NESGFOA and is currently the Executive Director of the Association. He completed the Master Gardener's program and enjoys restoring his 1930 Ford Model A. He lives in Standish with his husband, Jeff and two cats, Jackson and Patrick.

Heidy earned her MS in Accounting with a focus on Forensic Accounting (MS.ACC.FAC) from Southern New Hampshire University. She is currently advancing her professional career at RHR Smith. Heidy's diverse background includes roles as a Revenue Agent for the Small Business/Self-Employed department at the IRS, a Benefit Analyst, and experience in business administration and billing and coding. This broad expertise has enabled her to focus on the corporate sector while completing her education full-time.

Jess earned her Master’s Degree in Accounting from Southern New Hampshire University. Jess joined the Financial Reporting department at RHR Smith & Company in 2015, and has over 10 years of experience in accounting. Since joining the RHR team, she has become an expert in the preparation of financial statements for our clients. 

JORDAN NELLÉ, CPA

Jordan joined the RHR team in 2019 and comes to us with over 16 years of experience in the accounting profession. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Champlain College in Vermont, and is also a licensed CPA and member of the AICPA and Vermont Society of CPA’s. She heads the Firm’s training programs and delights in discussing audit theory.

Rose joined the RHR team in 2022. Prior to joining the RHR team, Rose worked as the Royalton Town Administrator for over eight years overseeing the town finances and many important town projects. She also worked at a supervisory union gaining valuable school accounting experience. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from Keene State College and an Associate’s Degree in Accounting from McIntosh College. Her experience and training make her a valuable member of our Financial Reporting team.

Danielle joined the RHR team in 2020, and comes to us with a range of experience from the hospitality industry, including budgeting, financial statement preparation, and payroll. Most recently, Danielle worked for a local municipality in their Finance Department.

Mike received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and Accounting from Colombia College, and his MBA from Chapman University. Mike is also licensed as a CPA in the states of Florida and Vermont, and a certified Management Accountant, School District Administrator, and School Business Administrator. Before joining the RHR team in 2019, Mike was the CFO for the City of Jacksonville Beach, Florida. 

Clement Bukuru

Staff Accountant

Clement earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Kigali Independent University in Rwanda. He is currently pursuing an associate degree in accounting at Central Maine community College in Auburn. Clement is a CPA (R) with extensive experience in both accounting and taxation. Prior to joining the RHR team, he served for over ten years in both the public and private sectors, holding various positions related to finance and taxation.
