“Looking back, I really enjoyed my time as an intern at RHR Smith & Co. I started my three month intern period right after I received my bachelors degree in accounting and was immediately met with open arms from knowledgable and caring people. I hit the ground running, traveling to different towns five days a week, working in different audit areas and learning from the best accountants/auditors we have. Everyone was willing to give me new tasks and offered assistance along the way as I was learning. The feedback I received was instantaneous since we were all onsite together. They allowed me to fix my mistakes and gave me insight into the theory behind why we do certain things. Taking notes was a must as there was so much information to take in, but in doing so I was able to retain that for the next time I was assigned that same task. As my internship progressed I was given more of a workload which forced me to focus not only on accuracy, but efficiency as well. I was also given deadlines that taught me how to manage my time with numerous tasks on my plate. At the end of my internship, management reviewed my body of work and offered me a full time position.
